Attribution we owe, and how we give it
data.gov.my and DOSM
Open data published on data.gov.my under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. We credit the agency (e.g. DOSM, MOF) and data.gov.my under every chart and in the footer. We may change format or combine tables; we say so in the method note.
OpenStreetMap
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. The credit is shown in the corner of every map and in the footer. Places tables built from OpenStreetMap are kept as a separate database so the share-alike terms stay clear.
Protomaps basemap
Basemap by Protomaps, a produced work of OpenStreetMap (ODbL). We host the Malaysia extract ourselves on Cloudflare R2 (/tiles/malaysia.pmtiles), so viewing a map sends no request to a third-party tile server.
Overture Maps
Places from the Overture Maps Foundation: data from Meta, Microsoft and others under CDLA-Permissive-2.0; data from Foursquare © 2024 Foursquare Labs, Inc., under Apache-2.0, transformed to the Overture schema.
OCHA HDX boundaries
Malaysia subnational administrative boundaries (COD-AB) from HDX, CC BY 4.0. Boundaries do not imply any opinion on the legal status of any territory.
